• Ubiquitous Computing or Pervasive Computing including the Internet of Things (IoT), smart-devices, smart-environments, personalisation, spatial-awareness, pervasive games etc.
• Smarter and richer interaction between services, devices and people including Web services, Semantic Web and MultiAgent Systems.
• Management of distributed systems including Internet of Things, Security, safety, trust and privacy for open distributed services.

Current

• Program Committee chair for the 12^th International Conference on Intelligent Systems, to be held in London, 24^th-16^th September, submission deadline 1st March 2016.
• Guest editor for Informatics Special Issue on Special Issue "Ubiquitous Computing: From Interlinking Smart Tabs, Pads and Boards towards Interlinking Smart Skins, Dust and Clay", submission deadline 29^th February 2016.
• 2012-2015 Internet of Things: ASSET Adaptive Security for Smart Internet of Things in eHealth project funded by the Research Council of Norway.
• 1 new PhD student, Zixiang Ma started 2015-09 funded by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) PhD program to work on mobility sensing, data analytics and Geographical Information Systems. I am always looking for further, good, CSC PhD students, other PhD students and post-docs, please contact me.
• Best paper award for IEEE Sensors J paper 2014 on Optimum Use of Foot Force Sensors and Mobile Phone GPS for Mobility Activity Recognition.
• QMUL Innovation Grant to study Indoor location sensing and navigation in a library.

2014

• Became visiting Researcher at the BUPT IETLab (Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Information and Electronic Technology Laboratory)

• Two new PhD students, Hugh Boys, Christopher Wood, started funded by the QMUL Media Arts Technology Program to work on smart materials and locative media.
