Emmanouil Benetos

My primary research topic is automatic transcription of polyphonic music - the process of converting an audio recording into symbolic notation. The problem of automatic transcription is considered by many to be the holy grail in the field of music information retrieval (MIR). I have also worked in the past on other areas of music and speech signal processing, including onset detection, music genre recognition, dialogue detection, and musical instrument identification.
