Open PhD Position in Statistical Machine Translation The Department of Computer Science at Queen Mary, University of London has a fully funded PhD position in the area of Statistical Machine Translation. The PhD position is in the MataHari project (Machine Translation with Harvested Internet Resources) which focuses on utilizing Internet resources to learn statistical translation models for translating from a number of foreign languages into English. The successful candidate will be based in the information retrieval group. Queen Mary's information retrieval group (http://ir.dcs.qmul.ac.uk) is actively pursuing a variety of research initiatives, covering areas such as cross-language retrieval, machine translation, structured document retrieval, natural language processing, and large-scale probabilistic reasoning. Applicants must have a strong background in Computing Science and/or closely related areas.
