industry. This year we also have talks about some of our latest
research and an opportunity to tour the Media and Arts Technology
Studios.
Our vibrant research groups undertake internationally led research in:
- Antennas and electromagnetics
- Communication networks
- Digital music
- Interaction, media and communication
- Media and arts technology
- Multimedia
- Vision
- Risk and information management
- Theoretical computer science
In addition to research laboratories at Queen Mary, we have joint venture research laboratories established in Beijing, (Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications) and Macau.
During our Research Open Day you will meet our academic staff, our industrial and academic partners, and our research students. The event consists of research projects and poster presentations by our final year Ph.D. students. We have over 50 research active, academic staff, who are supervising over 230 Ph.D. students and 190 research assistants and engineers. All are working on today's leading edge research in our state-of the-art laboratories. The School's current research grant portfolio is around £37m. This funding has been sourced from UK Research Councils, the European Union, and industry and government organisations.
