Biography

Dr. Timotijevic is an electronic and biomedical engineer with a career spanning IT, telecommunications and most recently, biomedical engineering, in a variety of roles (researcher, engineer, manager) and sectors (corporate, public, non-for-profit).  In 1999 she obtained a PhD in Electronic Engineering from Queen Mary, University of London. She then joined Bell Labs, an R&D arm of Lucent Technologies as a Systems Engineer, then worked for Avaya Communications, and later, Vodafone UK and Vodafone Global, where she worked in technology development and technology strategy in a variety of roles from Principal Engineer to Senior Manager. In 2006 Dr. Timotijevic decided to return to academia to pursue a career in academic research and teaching. She completed an MSc in Biomedical Engineering with Distinction at the University of Surrey (2007), where she worked as a visiting researcher for a year in the area of advanced technologies for motor rehabilitation. In 2008 she joined the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science at Queen Mary, University of London as a Project Manager (Research) of the EPSRC-funded Bridging the Gaps project (PI = Dr. John Schormans) to manage, create and facilitate new multidisciplinary research opportunities across QMUL. Dr. Timotijevic joined the Centre for Sports and Exercise Medicine (CSEM) in Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2009 as a Grant Writer, where she has had a very similar role of coordinating the creation of, and pursuing funds for, new research projects. In CSEM, she continues collaboration on projects concerning motion capture and analysis, and the study of musculoskeletal biomechanics in health and disease.

Dr. Timotijevic teaches modules ELE206, Electronic Systems and Applications, and Electric and Magnetic Fields, ELE210 at EECS. She has also helped design module ELEM043.

Research interests:

  • ICT in healthcare, assistive technologies
  • Motion capture and analysis
  • Technology-assisted motor training and rehabilitation
  • Electromagnetic stimulation of neuronal structures, neuronal networks
  • Bioelectronics
