Murdoch, has been accepted to the 6th USENIX Workshop on Free and Open Communications on the Internet (FOCI '16), August 2016, Austin, TX, USA (paper, Blog post, 35% acceptance rate).

  • We have an international fully-funded PhD studentship on Normative Foundations of Privacy-Preserving Practices in the Internet of Things, to start September 2016 or shortly after. See the Advert and apply by June 1st.

  • Our paper "Fetishizing Food in Digital Age: #foodporn Around the World", with Yelena Mejova and Sofiane Abbar, has been accepted to the International AAAI Conference on Web and Social Media (ICWSM 2016), May 2016, Cologne, Germany (paper, webpage, MIT Technology Review, GIZMODO, 17% acceptance rate).

  • We have 3 papers accepted to ACM Digital Health 2016 conference, including two on using Deep Learning and CNNs for image recognition in the wild. Please check them out in my publications page.

  • Our paper "Tracking Personal Identifiers Across the Web" with Marjan Falahrastegar, Steve Uhlig, and Richard Mortier, has been accepted to the Passive and Active Measurement conference (PAM 2016), 31 March-1 April 2016, Crete, Greece.

  • Yousef Amar Joins the Centre for Intelligent Sensing to start his PhD from January 2016 on the Databox.

  • Nanda Khaorapapong Joins us as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant on the Connected Seeds and Sensors project.

  • Our Alan Turing Institute "Symposium on Responsible, Ethics-Aware Research & Innovation in Data Science" will take place on 22-23 March 2016.

  • SensingKit v0.2.0 for Android is now available with support for Bluetooth sensor and Android Studio 1.3. New iOS version with support for iBeacon / Eddystone / AltBeacon is also now available. Minos also won the Marconi Society Best Poster Award.

  • Our paper "New Directions in Jewelry: a Close Look at Emerging Trends & Developments in Jewelry-like Wearable Devices”, with Yulia Silina, has been accepted to the ACM International Symposium on Wearable Computers (ISWC 2015), September 2015, Osaka, Japan.(paper, taxonomy)

  • Our paper "Personal Data: Thinking Inside the Box”, with Heidi Howard, Amir Chaudhry, Jon Crowcroft, Anil Madhavapeddy, Derek McAuley, Richard Mortier, has been accepted to the 5th decennial Aarhus conferences (Aarhus 2015 Critical Alternatives), [paper , MIT Technology Review, Guardian]

  • Our paper "A Glance through the VPN Looking Glass: IPv6 Leakage and DNS Hijacking in Commercial VPN clients”, with Vasile Claudiu Perta, Marco Valerio Barbera, Gareth Tyson, and Alessandro Mei, has been accepted to the 15th Privacy Enhancing Technologies Symposium (PETS 2015 , paper, WIRED, HackerNews, The Register, BBC, Tech times, Macworld, Business Insider , and Our response to VPN providers).

  • The recent announcement of the DARPA Brandeis programme makes explicit reference to HDI and our website. This has been picked up by GCN, USAToday, NBCNews, Engadget , ACM TECHNEWS among others.

  • Our paper "#FoodPorn: Obesity Patterns in Culinary Interactions”, with Yelena Mejova, Anastasios Noulas and Ingmar Weber, has been accepted to the 5th ACM conference on Digital Health 2015 as a long paper (paper).

  • Our paper "Walking in Sync: Two is Company, Three’s a Crowd”, with Kleomenis Katevas, Laurissa Tokarchuk, and Richard Clegg has been accepted to ACM MobiSys 2nd Workshop on Physical Analytics (WPA), Florence, Italy, May 2015.

  • Our paper "Human-Data Interaction: The Human Face of the Data-Driven Society”, with Richard Mortier,  Tristan Henderson, Derek McAuley, and Jon Crowcroft, is featured on MIT Technology Review and is available online.
